Welcome to the web site of the Red Wyvern Society. We travel to many Castles and
historical sites around the British Isles. We strive to portray 15th century life
as accurately as possible both for ourselves and the general public.
Meet some of our key members and see what roles they play within the Red Wyverns
Society. If you attend any of our events you can be sure to see many of these faces
taking part.
Meet Mistress Elaine - The Cook! She's probably our most important member!
Elaine
is the Clifford camp cook (very good she is to) in all the years she has been our
cook, actually more years than we can remember, she has carried on regardless of
sun, rain, hail and even snow, and makes sure that we are all extremely well fed.
It is true, an army marches on its stomach.
Meet Master Wayte of Murton - Captian of our Merry Rabble
Not
quite as ferocious as he looks at least as long as he gets fed, the captain keeps
the army in some semblance of order.
Meet Master Andreas - Our Master Archer, Not native to these parts
Andreas
heard the English women were far superior to the German broads he was used to so
he applied to be a mercenary in the Clifford army. On getting here he found that
what he had heard was true so he married one (an English woman that is) and stayed.
Bless.
Meet Mistress Ann - Who can Kill or Cure you
Mistress
Ann the Clifford herbalist makes lotions and potions for the curing of battle wounds
(garlic ointment) poorly fingers (more garlic ointment) and sore heads (feverfew
tea) Rumor has it that she slipped the German archer a love potion or two either
that or he likes garlic ointment.
Meet Mistress Mary - Who Dyes a Lot
Mistress
Mary likes to entertain us with her tales of 10 things to do with onion skins or
walnuts, nettles, woad etc..... namely dying wool with them. She is also a ferocious
billwomen.
Meet Master Bowner - One of our billmen
Master
Bowner is one of our billmen, has the best suit of armour and frequently wins prizes
in tournements.
Meet The Billmen - Who are (sometimes) Ferocious in Battle
Many a battle has been fought and sometimes won by this motley crew. They have travelled
to many a far flung corner of the British Isles, and some of them even beyond our
shores to uphold the honour of our Clifford lord.
Meet The Archers - Deadly Accurate with a Barndoor
They are extremely keen and mostly accurate though it must be said we have heard
a rumour that barn doors all over the country quake with fear at a possible hit.
