The Cliffords set up camp on the green in Barnoldswick where they demonstrated medieval cooking using some of fantastic food provided by the local traders of the town.
During the day there were drill displays in the town square and fighting demonstrations as well as Knight school for the children who had the opportunity to take part in the St Georges Day parade around the town. We also performed the Mumming play again visitbarnoldswick.co.uk |
28th-30th May, Skipton Castle
We returned to Skipton for yet another wonderful long weekend of fighting, shooting and eating. This time we added two forges - pewter casting and a blacksmith - as well as a surgeon with his scary instruments and samples of urine!

9th-10th July, Tewkesbury Medieval Festival
We returned to Tewkesbury and it was good fun as always. Wesley had an encounter with some ants on the battlefield whilst he was supposed to be dead. This caused much amusement.

The Cliffords are returning to the much loved Appleby Castle after a long period of absence!
Join us in the summer 1454 and find out about some the events that lead up to the beginning of the Wars of the Roses. You can also learn about how the castle was extensively redesigned and rebuilt by Thomas Clifford in 1454 and see that even today (2015) there is a major project of restoration and conservation needed to preserve this jewel of the Eden valley. www.applebycastle.co.uk |
